Luis grabs podium in Sydney

AUSTRALIAN F4 CHAMPIONSHIPS - SYDNEY: MEDIA RELEASE

Luis has placed third and grabbed a podium position in the 3rd round of the Australian F4 championships at Sydney Motorsport Park.

On lap 7, what has been described as 'the battle of the season so far' unfolded between Will Brown and Luis Leeds.

Brown made a brave pass on turn 2 which resulted in contact, they then continued to battle for the rest of the lap before bravely running side-by-side into turn one.

On lap 11 Brown finally gained some distance before running wide, which resulted in another spin and ultimately finished eighth – giving Leeds third and Vernon fourth.

The battle for third continued right until the last lap as Vernon closed on Leeds, but was ultimately not able to gain enough ground to make it onto the podium.

Team BRM won the first race of the weekend in Sydney as the championship battle continues between Jordan Lloyd and Thomas Randle of Dream Motorsport.

Randle and Lloyd were wheel-to-wheel into turn one before Lloyd shut the door on Randle which resulted in contact as Harry Hayek missed the jump on the start.

Jordan Lloyd completed a faultless race as he and Randle turned almost identical times being separated by less than a second per lap.

Lloyd finally took the chequered flag in another solid performance to claim his fifth win of the season.

Back in the field Nick Rowe was the biggest mover of the race pushing his way from eighth to fifth in another strong performance.

The racing continues tomorrow at 8:45am AEST on FOX Sports 5 and on Twitter. Follow @Formula4AU and the hashtag #F4AU for continuous coverage online.
