PRESS RELEASE: - SANDOWN - ROUND 4 QAULI
Dream Motorsport Preston Hire driver Luis Leeds has stunned the field by qualifying 2nd for tomorrow's Australian Formula 4 Championship race at Sandown International Raceway, missing pole by just 0.1 of a second.
Luis will start from the front row alongside pole sitter Jordan Lloyd with Luis' time being a Formula 4 career-best qualifying result.
“I really need to make my mark this weekend and I was pushing quite a bit in the session – I was doing everything!” Luis said.
“This is the weekend that I really want to beat Jordan, so it’s eyes forward and hopefully get a win.”
Polesiter Lloyd said after qualifying, “It was a bit interesting with the cooler temperature now and new tyres so everyone definitely found a bit of pace, I only had pole by just one-tenth, and it was just under a second covering nearly the whole field so it’s definitely busy,” Lloyd said.
“Luis is definitely quick, and I think tomorrow we can expect a few open-wheel battles between him, myself and some of the other guys and I’m looking forward to it.”
Toolforce Racing's Jimmy Vernon rounded out the top three, the first of the AGI Sport cars.
Tomorrow’s first race will begin tomorrow morning at 9:05 (AEST).
