LUIS SET FOR DEBUT RACE IN GERMAN F4 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Australian driver Luis Leeds has announced today that he will be competing in the final round of the ADAC German Formula 4 Championship at Hockenheim October 3-4, 2015

The 15-year-old will join Team KUG Motorsport and is extremely eager to hit the European racing scene for the first time.

This won’t be the first time the teenager has competed overseas having previously raced at Sepang Malaysia in the Asian Cup Series and in New Zealand’s Formula Ford Championship earlier this year, where he won his first race.

Leeds has also tested at the Lausitzring in Germany at just 14 years of age.

“This will be my first international event in Europe and I’m really looking forward to racing on European soil,” Leeds said.

“I’m pretty excited about this opportunity and I’m hoping to learn how the European drivers race, and hopefully I can get a strong result and cement my way into the European racing scene.

“I am doing my research and watching how they race, and it should be fun!”

Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel is the patron of the ADAC Formula 4 series in Germany.

Two other drivers of note are Van Amersfoot Racing teammates Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time F1 champion Michael, and Harrison Newey, son of car designer Adrian.

Currently third in the Australian Formula 4 Championship, Leeds is also second in the Australian Formula Ford Championship and will be racing at Wakefield Park for the final round of their championship before Round 5 of Australian Formula 4 on the Gold Coast.

“It’ll be fun racing close to all the events, at one point this year I raced five out of six weekends!” Leeds continued.

“I’m still in school finishing Year 10 so it’s interesting juggling everything, but I am determined to finish.”

Leeds also mentioned that he would more than likely be racing in Europe next year, paving the way to his dream of racing in Formula 1.

“Formula 1 is the dream for me, and I want to have the opportunity to make it.”

“Financially it is extremely hard, but I am thankful for every sponsor I have to help me achieve my dream.”

The Melbourne-based racer also thanked his dad, family and his sponsors Preston Hire, Austrans, Brandon, Adams Alexander and A&E Electrics for all their support so far this year.

Leeds will head over to Germany on Sunday evening, and will make his debut in the category on the Hockenheimring circuit on October 3-4.
