British Formula 4: 3rd – 289 points – after 27 of 30 races

Fast all the way through the weekend, Luis Leeds is now just 19 points off the lead of the British F4 championship after the penultimate round at Silverstone. The Red Bull Junior should have been even closer, with an all podium weekend, but for a puncture in Race 1.

"Yes," enthused the 16-year-old Australian. "It was a pretty good weekend, we proved our speed and now are a lot closer to the front of the championship, closer than we've been since the unlucky weekend at Oulton."

Fast – wet and dry

"It started raining just before qualifying as it seems to for us so it was great to show the speed as the conditions changed through the session, second fastest overall and with the best second time to give me my first pole for Race 3. The Arden guys gave me a great car and it was so good to show what we could do."

"Race one was good, fighting for it all the way and going for a move on second down the straight when we collided wheels. That left me with a puncture. I knew I absolutely had to keep going and I was lucky to make it round in 8th, doubly lucky, to finish and to get P2 on the grid for Race 2.

Podiums on Sunday

"Race 2 was OK, started off second but unfortunately didn't move forward but picked up some good points and the podium."

"Race 3 from pole I did what I could but we knew we were up against it with the tyres. We get six for the weekend and with the puncture in Race 1 the car had tipped forward on the flat front left leaving the rear right in the air. Every time the rear touched the ground it was spinning too fast and smoked like it was on fire, looked good but it wrecked the tyre leaving us with a problem for Race 3."

"I fought to stay in front but I also had to look after the tyres and in the end I got pushed back to second."

All on for Brands Hatch

"We are certainly getting there and as every weekend shows the championship positions can turn around so quickly. We are still 19 behind but we can do that at Brands, bring it on!" exclaimed Leeds looking forward to the final three races and the 75 points they offer on October 1st and 2nd.
